Root Canal Therapy

When a tooth becomes infected due to tooth decay or as a result of an injury, root canal therapy may be required to save the remaining tooth structure. Once the infection starts to spread through the root canal system, it could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be removed.

Here at Streatham Dental Centre, our team is trained and experienced to perform root canal therapy to a very high standard. Once the tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic, we will reduce your discomfort and stop the infection, while restoring your tooth using advanced materials and techniques. The treatment overall should feel no different to having an ordinary filling placed.

After all the infection is removed from the root canal system, it is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. The tooth will have a temporary filling until the follow up appointment, when the tooth is checked to ensure all the infection has cleared. The tooth is then filled permanently and should look and function like a normal tooth.

To keep your mouth in tip top shape we recommend you come in for regular hygiene appointments and dental check-ups.
